Tap into THE GRID, let Jesus power you.
Let’s talk about electrical power grids. Fair warning, I know nothing about electrical power grids.
Part of my gifting is revelation of the nature of Spirit, and the relationship between God and us. So I see many analogues that describe the dynamics of that relationship.
I see electrical power grids. I see nuclear power plants, I see broadband networks, I see antennae, receivers, transducers, transceivers. Note well, all of this is absolutely out of the scope of my technical knowledge. Spirit also likes to give me lessons in physics and quantum mechanics which I also know little to nothing about.
As Christians we are literally the body of Christ, metaphysically. In Spirit I saw Christ represented as a web of light spanning the globe. In each node on this mesh, a single soul. Christ is the substance that connects all these souls.
Not only is Christ the medium of connection, He is the
source that powers the grid. He is the
life-force, he is the spiritual power that lights us up, actuates us, empowers
and sustains us. The spiritual entity
that is the living Christ is literally our fuel. We receive that fuel through the working of the Holy Spirit.
All the telecoms analogies demonstrate that we are built for
connection and communion with Christ.
24/7, online, real-time connection that is always available to us. The grid is never down. We do however, tend to disconnect. Then our node winks out, our light goes dim
and we feel empty, depleted and overwhelmed.
When we are in the trenches it is a place we may find
ourselves often. Know this though, even
when you can’t feel it you are connected to Christ, your soul is connected to
the fabric of his being, you are a part of that which he is. You cannot be separated from him, you can only
cage yourself off from him. You literally block his signal.
Another analogue Spirit used today was a Faraday Cage. It is a device used to contain or shield
electromagnetic energy. When we are
caught up in our circumstances, feeling the not-goodness of our God, it is like
there is a cage around us, and Christ’s love, his care, his support can’t get
through to us. It is quite literally an
electromagnetic shield that neutralizes the energy that Christ is directing to
us in every moment.
All of this expresses through our emotions. The simple test of your standing with your God comes down to how you are feeling.
Is JOY your resting state?
We will all fall down, we will do things that cause remorse,
guilt, shame, anger. We will go through stuff
that causes devastation, desolation and discouragement. But does your heart bounce back to a place of joy, peace,
trust, hope?
A heart that is in a healthy state of connection with Christ
resonates joy. For some that is overt
and loud, for some it is quiet and internal but in the end there is peace even when the going gets tough.
"Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him" - Job 13:15
Today for hours I struggled with my emotions. Spirit kept reminding me of one of my recent
posts, Joy Is A Choice. I could not reach
joy and praise felt hypocritical so I fought the promptings of Spirit and had a
pretty rough ride.
Toward the end of my day Spirit sent the song ‘My God Is
Awesome’ and I thought you gotta be frikkin kidding me. Seriously?
That song was so out of alignment with my day, I actually asked God 'do you want me to lie to You?'.
Choose the COMPANY you keep
But Spirit is consistent in teaching me to choose the company I keep, i.e. reach for a more positive emotion, so I decided to
lean in and celebrate my God as awesome. Truth is where we are in a given day does not
change what our God is. He’s not just
awesome when we are riding the waves of victory. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.
So I allowed myself to lean gently into the thought that
regardless of what is going on, He’s awesome. Spirit loved that and responded joyously, amplifying the little appreciation that I was able to reach. That small decision shifted the energy of my entire day and changed a
lousy day into a pretty nice day.
This is what tapping into the grid is about, we can do this sort of thing every day. We can’t control all that life throws at us,
but the suffering is optional. We do get
to choose how we experience life every single day.
Suffering is OPTIONAL. Choose joy.
How? It is so simple it will shock you. The kingdom of God is in our imagination. It is as real as the physical world around
us, but we access it through our imagination.
That’s what we are doing when we pray, we are talking to a God we can’t
see and many times don’t experience but we imagine He is there.
We call it faith.
So on a day when it is hard to praise, don’t try to force
praise from the place you are in. Go
into your imagination and position yourself in a different place. From that place praise your God, give Him
glory, worship Him wholeheartedly.
Games of imagination may seem silly but they will transform
you emotionally. They are physically healing,
and to those who believe in miracles, well our imagination is the ground in
which they are cultivated.
Walk in David's shoes
Try this simple exercise. Your goliath is towering over you, you are bruised and busted up and feeling broken. Put yourself in David’s shoes (1 Samuel 17). Feel the feelings you are feeling now, the sense of intimidation, exhaustion, the sense of smallness and powerlessness, the shame as your situation makes a mockery of your faith. Your emotions are valid, don’t hide from them, recognize them, but you get to step out from under them.
Fast forward to the moment when you (David) release that
stone from your slingshot. Watch the giant stagger, see the
stunned expression on his face as he falls to his knees and goes down. Be David in that moment. Be in the moment.
Feel his sense of amazement, shock, elation, disbelief,
awe. My God, my bravado was a bit of a
show, I had no idea I could really take this giant down. Omg.
OMG!!! Aaaaaaagh!
Dance. Shout. Cheer.
Hear the crowd cheering for you.
Raise your hands in victory.
Cry. Fall down on your knees and
bow before your God. My God is awesome!!
We think we have to have an actual victory in order to feel these things, we don’t. We can remember victories past, we can imagine victories to come, we can borrow from others. Let yourself feel the emotion and stay with those emotions as long as you can. Can you indulge your imagination for ten or twenty minutes, or even an hour?
Juice every bit of joy and satisfaction and fulfillment you can get. Feel the victory, feel your heart overflow in gratitude to your God. Stay in it as long as you can.
What you don’t realize is that when you are playing
empowering games of imagination, your node on the network lights up and energy
starts to move. This energy may trigger
a divine encounter, it might signal a divine unction to someone else who shows
up in answer to your prayer. The energy
might just erode the root of your mountain.
Whatever the outcome, you created some space to connect with
your God from a positive place. That
connection feeds God’s heart and He flows back to you exponentially more than
you have given to Him.
Tap into the grid, Jesus is waiting to power you in wild and wonderful ways. You just might slay a giant today.
And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.
So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David. - 1 Samuel 17: 49-50
